ASP levels is crucial for ensuring that your electrical projects are managed properly. Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) are essential for different types of work on the network. Each ASP level covers specific tasks and has distinct requirements. This article will clarify what each ASP level entails and how they affect your connection projects.
ASP Level 1 – Network Construction
Contractors are engaged in the construction of Ausgrid’s network infrastructure. This includes:• Underground and overhead mains construction
• Construction of substations and other network apparatus
Based on the respective certified designs provided by ASP Level 3 providers, the work of an ASP/1 must be accredited and authorized by Ausgrid to ensure that all the work done meets the necessary technical and safety requirements.
ASP Level 2 – Network Connection
Contractors are responsible for the work of connecting premises to the Ausgrid network. Their responsibilities include:• Following the Scheme Rules.
• Employing staff who hold the necessary competency and have current training.
• Operating under the requirements of the Ausgrid’s Electrical Safety Rules.
ASP/2 contractors have the responsibility of keeping their employee’s competency.
ASP Level 3 – Network Design
Providers are engaged to create new and altered network infrastructure designs. Their scope includes the following:• Access and application of the Ausgrid technical specifications and safety updates.
• Ensure design meets the requirements of the Ausgrid Network Standards. <div style="margin-left:
• The verification of the applicability of any information provided in the design and liaising with the Ausgrid as necessary to ensure updates.
ASP/3 providers must ensure that their network infrastructure designs meet current standards and regulations.
Planning and Coordination
Good planning and coordination minimises disruptions. ASPs must:Engage Proactively
Notify all affected customers of any additional planned outage.Consider Customer Impact
Plan outages to cause the least inconvenience, e.g. less disruption due to daylight hours, or by making an outage on a non-essential service:• Comply with Environment Requirements.
• Outage duration should meet the relevant environmental assessment.
• Submit Project Implementation Plans (PIPs).
• Projects that rely on a planned outage need a sufficient amount of detail within PIPs.
Outage Management and Communication
ASPs must:• Coordinate with Ausgrid.
• Inform Ausgrid if an outage has to be rescheduled or ended early.
• NECF Requirements.
• Advise all customers who will be affected by the supply interruption of the NECF requirements.
Accreditation and Training
It is expected to be satisfied at the time of accreditation and throughout the term of it. Training as required must be provided to employees, and training certificates should not lapse.Resources and Tools
ASP providers are given access to:Ausgrid’s WebGIS
To give detailed information on the network; to assist in project coordination and management.Design Specifications
Technical specifications and other standards can be sought from the resources in Ausgrid.Understanding ASP levels is vital for managing your electrical projects effectively. ASP/1 focuses on construction, ASP/2 handles connections, and ASP/3 deals with design. Selecting the right ASP level ensures that your project complies with all standards and runs smoothly.
